greenMonitor™ Version 2.04 Roadmap

The 2.04 release includes additional support for wind turbines, environmental sensing devices and enhanced database access.

Product Change Notice

The following product-level changes are due to be made with Version 3.01, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

Command Line Interfaces

Commands which have been integrated into gmServer or gmConsole will be removed from the product.  Commands whose functionality is better handled through the web interface may be removed if the advantage of using the web interface is significantly greater than using the command line interface.

The commands which have been identified for removal include:

NameDescriptionReason for Removal
gmForecastCreate a day-ahead forecast for system load and productionThe "Forecast" tab on the web interface creates an easily viewable spreadsheet containing the same information.
gmMergeCombine multiple Mate data streams into a single streamThe gmMerge command has been obsoleted by the ability to monitor multiple systems directly.
gmRemoteCreate files compatible with the "remote files" feature of WattPlotThe large number of devices and capabilities which are not present in WattPlot from Intallact has reduced the usefulness of this command.
gmStatisticsTrack statistical load and production data. The functionality of gmStatistics has been integrated into the gmServer command and gmServer is better suited to tracking that data.

MySQL Database

The simplified MySQL database interface which was added for Version 1.00.9 has been replaced with a new MySQL database.

System Passwords

greenMonitor software versions prior to 2.01 supported a 4 digit "PIN" for use as a password.  This was replaced with a user name and password mechanism in Version 2.01.  Effective with Version 3.01, the 4 digit "PIN" will only be available on the "Basic" license levels, but will eventually be removed from all license levels.

Add user-configured preferences / web server skins.Further work on browser customization and skins editing.Shipped.
Add long-term historical wind speed data.Add additional code so that the average wind speed information associated with a charge controller can be determined from gmReport and other sources.  The average wind speed data must include the ability to calculate daily, monthly and yearly average speeds.Shipped.
Modify gmInitFile to be more adaptiveAdd code so that gmInitFile will switch from network to direct file mode if a named system is local and the server port cannot be opened.Shipped.
Add Modbus option to gmServer connection type menuAdd an option to the "Type" menu for gmServer so that a user can specifiy a Modbus connection for all of the devices. Moved to 2.04.01
