More attention than ever is being paid to conserving energy. greenHouse Computers, LLC is a new kind of computer company for a greener planet. With a complete family of systems which use less electricity than a typical incandescent light bulb, our low power systems may pay for themselves through energy savings alone, compared to typical personal computers and workstations.
Our lowest power system, the greenStation™ Personal Workstation, makes an ideal thin-server, or personal or office workstation. The greenServer™ Small Office / Home Office server is ideally suited to in-house web, e-mail, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, and other server uses. Rounding out our low power series, the greenStorage™ Network Attached Storage system combines low power and unheard of storage capacity in its class -- up to 3TB, configurable as RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 51 -- in a single tiny package, with a typical power usage less than 50 watts, lower than many dedicated, less flexible storage devices on the market today.
Our largest product, the greenFarm™ virtualization server, brings server consolidation and desktop virtualization down to earth for small businesses for the first time. The greenFarm virtualization server provides always-on capabilities to end-users without the always-on power penalty. Although it is hardly a low-power system, the greenFarm supports consolidation of multiple workstations, such as the greenStation, allowing you to dramatically reduce energy consumption.
We put our technology to work, as well as selling it to consumers. Our greenStation Personal Workstation is the ideal platform for our greenMonitor Renewable Energy System monitoring software, and our even lower power product, the greenMonitor Logger, provides robust, full-function 24/7 on-site monitoring of your renewable energy system.
Our commitment to low power computing and renewable energy system monitoring doesn't start after the need arises. We're also available to consult on your new construction and renewable energy system designs. Our experienced technical staff has the skills to help with site planning, component selection and system design. greenHouse Computers isn't just a hardware integrator, we're an end-to-end solution provider for energy conservation and renewable energy systems needs. We put our technology background to work for our clients, bringing high-value add to the table, regardless of need.
Since 1971, the number of transistors in an integrated circuit has doubled approximately every two years, and often that has brought with it significant increases in energy consumption. Known as "Moore's Law", there is no end in sight for increases in processor speed, complexity and power consumption. Unfortunately, hard disk performance has not kept pace. Processor performance has increased more than 1,000 fold while hard disk performance has increased less than 100 fold in the same time frame. The result is computer systems which wait on data, denying users the benefits of their faster processors. We believe we can do much better than that, and save energy at the same time.
At greenHouse Computers we feel improving hard disk performance in our low power models is more important than chasing after ever faster processors and memory. This allows us to keep our active power consumption well below the idle power consumption level of many of our competitors, without sacrificing real-world performance. For our ultra-low power consumption monitoring systems, we use solid state drives and light-weight embedded operating systems.
Our in-house engineering staff reduces wasted materials by creating custom sheet-metal designs. This utilizes more of the interior volume of the cases we use and makes a wider range of adapter cards available. While our competitors are forced to sell you a larger, more expensive, mostly empty case, our use of low-power, low thermal load parts allows us to make use of the wasted volume needed for higher-power systems and their air cooling needs. Carefully selecting parts for power consumption and performance is important at greenHouse Computers. Our computer cases are both full and cool to the touch, saving you space and money. The days of personal computers feeling like a space heater are gone.
For traditional data center configurations, the greenServer and greenStorage models are also available in 2U rack mount cases (the greenFarm virtualization server comes standard in a 2U rack mount case, but is available with smaller disk configurations in our standard desktop case), and our engineering staff has created lightweight table top and floor standing racks in sizes from 10U to 30U, as well as 5U "rack ends" for stacking hard to manage rack mount hardware without the headaches of having a rack. Our engineers, having created the greenFarm Media model in response to demand for Blu-ray disc players and recorders, are now working to create a 10U audiophile rack capable of mounting standard 19" rack mountable multimedia equipment to solve the problem of integrating audiophile equipment and Home Theatre Personal Computers.
For our renewable energy system design clients, our technical staff can create solutions that improve system performance and reliability, while keeping your costs to a minimum. We're a technology based company and we use all available technologies when solving your energy problems.
greenHouse Computers was founded in 2008 to provide low power computing equipment to off-grid and mobile users who often rely on generator, micro-hydro, solar and wind power to meet their energy demands. Traditional computing equipment is cost-prohibitive to operate in these environments where power is often at a premium. While others are struggling to reduce their power consumption, our products have always been designed with low power and high performance in mind. We've started offering our systems to utility-grid connected customers who are concerned about energy consumption and the environment.
Our energy conservation and renewable energy team is available to all greenHouse Computers customers. Slow computers or high electric bills, we are here to serve your energy and computing needs.
100% of the energy used by greenHouse Computers is from renewable sources, either on-site solar power or utility provided 100% renewable energy.
